On the 27th February, Cumberland Council placed an ‘Emergency Temporary Prohibition of Pedestrians’ closure notice on the fingerboard of the public footpath (Public Footpath No. 124007) that crosses the land adjacent to Whites Cut on its west side. The order was put in place due to the likelihood of danger to the public resulting from damage caused during excavations and the hazardous condition of the surface of the path. The notice is enforced for twenty one days, after which it will be reissued if necessary.
The notice also indiactes that there is no suitable alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists and horses.
