Application for a Right of Way

A committee meeting on the 14th March 2026 discussed the options for submitting a Right of Way application for the route from Halton Lea Gate to Hallbankgate. This application (known as a Definitive Map Modification Order) will, if accepted, formally record the route as a Public Bridleway and secure safe, pedestrian access between neighbouring villages for generations to come. The process involves submitting application forms, plans, and evidence of use (e.g., historical documents, witness statements) to the local council. We will be actively seeking witness statements in the coming weeks and more details will be posted soon.

The route will also be nominated for declaration as an Asset of Community Value (ACV), this will be undertaken by Farlam Parish Council. Nomination as an ACV, if successful, will register land that the route crosses with the local council, triggering a “Community Right to Bid”. If any of the land is to be sold then the community will be given notice and have the first option to buy.
